Referred to by CNBCAfrica as a “personal finance goddess”, Samke Mhlongo is arguably one of South Africa’s most recognizable personal finance figures. The ex-Investec private banker sharpened her expertise during her 7-year tenure with the global specialist bank and asset manager; where she quickly established herself as a go-to banker for executives, entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals.

During this time Samke was introduced to the unique money challenges and behaviours of South Africa’s middle class. This curiosity resulted in her conducting academic research into over-indebtedness– one the most significant inhibitors of wealth creation amongst SA’s highest income earners.

The findings of this study alerted Samke to the critical need for personal money management skills and wealth management principles, especially amongst those individuals that are first generation high-income earners. Samke’s response to this need resulted in her becoming an independent wealth coach*, financial wellness associate, corporate speaker, media commentator, writer, financial inclusion advocate and founder of TNC Wealth Partners.

Samke offers personal consultations through TNC Wealth and as a financial wellness associate of Maureen Kark and Associates – a boutique wellness company servicing employees at some of the country’s top blue- chip listed organizations.

Samke is also a renowned corporate speaker. She has been booked as a keynote speaker, MC and panel moderator by several multinationals including SASOL, Anglo American, Standard Bank and Accenture. More notably, Samke was invited to give the keynote address at the 2017 CELD Woman and Finance Summit where she presented her talk titled “Managing Money and Building the African Woman’s Wealth Base”.

Samkeis also resident on VOW FM’s Business Wrap, regular commentator on CNBCAfrica, eNCA, Talk Radio 702 and Power FM, finance contributor for DESTINY magazine, and financial inclusion champion of The GracaMachel Trust.

In addition, Samke serves as the youngest non-executive director of state-owned mineral research technology agency MINTEK, where she is a member of the Audit & Risk Committee.

Samke holds an Accounting degree from the University of Cape Town, Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Wits Business School, and MBA from the same college completed with a dissertation titled Factors contributing to over-indebtedness in black South African females.
